Meet Colleen
Owner and Clinical Director

I bring over 40 years of experience as a student, pharmacy technician, middle school teacher, counselor, client, daughter, wife, sister, and friend. These roles have shaped who I am and my views of self compassion, resilience, empathy, and the importance of healthy emotional expression.
Who I am as a counselor
I believe healing begins when we feel safe enough to be seen — not fixed, judged, or rushed — but truly understood. At Wholehearted Counseling and Wellness, I offer a compassionate, trauma-informed space where you can explore your story with curiosity, courage, and care.
Life can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, overwhelmed by anxiety, shame, burnout, or the quiet sense that something isn’t quite right. You don’t have to navigate that alone. My approach is grounded in the belief that vulnerability is not weakness — it’s a powerful pathway to connection and growth.
Inspired by the work of Brené Brown, I believe wholehearted living means showing up as we are, practicing self-compassion, and learning to meet ourselves with honesty and courage. In our work together, I strive to create a space where you feel emotionally safe, respected, and deeply heard.
Therapy with me is collaborative and paced to your needs. Whether you’re learning to set boundaries, reconnect with yourself, heal from past experiences, or simply find steadiness in the present moment, we’ll work together in a way that honors your values and strengths. You are not broken. You are human — and worthy of care, compassion, and meaningful change.
My Background & Training
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC-S) with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from John Carroll University where I was inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu Honors's Society. My therapeutic approach is influenced by my experiences in community mental health, school-based therapy, private practice, a pediatric office and as a supervisor training other clinicians.
My work is grounded in trauma-informed care and influenced by research on vulnerability, shame resilience, and wholehearted living. I have experience supporting individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, self-worth challenges, and life transitions, and I am committed to ongoing learning and professional growth. I approach therapy with curiosity, compassion, and respect — recognizing that each person’s story is unique and deserving of care.
